Tiger Electronics

Tiger Electronics is the name behind a flood of LCD handheld games that could be found in nearly every toy store in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The small, flat devices—often designed to match the licensed game—featured simple, single-line LCD animations on a static background. Technically, they were extremely simple and a far cry from real video games, but their low price and the licensing of popular titles like Sonic the Hedgehog, Batman, and Mortal Kombat made them highly sought-after Christmas gifts. Today, they are viewed nostalgically as relics of an era when everyone wanted a handheld—and Tiger provided the most affordable solution.
