Bereits 2014 habe ich in meinem Blog das erste Mal \u00fcber den <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jungsi.de\/en\/retro-mist-news-072014\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MiST<\/a> (Minimig Atari ST)<\/strong> berichtet \u2013 den Vorl\u00e4ufer des MiSTer. Dieses urspr\u00fcngliche Ger\u00e4t wurde mit zahlreichen Cores versorgt, die es erm\u00f6glichten, Retro-Systeme hardwaregenau zu emulieren. \u00dcber viele Jahre habe ich die Entwicklung des MiST verfolgt. Doch wie so oft in der Technik wurde auch dieses Ger\u00e4t weiterentwickelt und verbessert. Daraus entstand der <strong>MiSTer<\/strong>, der auf dem <strong>DE10-Nano-Board<\/strong> von Terasic basiert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zu den Basisfunktionen des MiSTer gesellen sich mehrere Erweiterungen, sogenannte Tochter-Boards, wie zum Beispiel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>SDRAM-Board<\/strong>: erforderlich f\u00fcr viele Cores, um zus\u00e4tzliche Speicheranforderungen zu erf\u00fcllen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>I\/O-Board<\/strong>: bietet verschiedene Ausg\u00e4nge wie VGA, analoges Audio, optisches Audio, Buttons und LEDs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>RTC-Board<\/strong> (optional): f\u00fcgt eine Echtzeituhr hinzu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>USB-Hub-Board<\/strong>: erweitert die USB-Anschl\u00fcsse f\u00fcr Controller, Tastaturen oder andere Ger\u00e4te.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Verf\u00fcgbarkeit und Preisentwicklung<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In den letzten Jahren hat sich die Verf\u00fcgbarkeit des MiSTer erheblich verschlechtert, und auch die Kosten sind gestiegen. Das DE10-Nano-Board, das mit einem <strong>Intel Cyclone V FPGA<\/strong> ausgestattet ist, wurde urspr\u00fcnglich von Intel (nach der \u00dcbernahme des urspr\u00fcnglichen Herstellers Altera im Jahr 2015) als kosteng\u00fcnstige L\u00f6sung f\u00fcr Bildungseinrichtungen entwickelt. Intel hatte die Boards subventioniert, um ihre Verbreitung zu f\u00f6rdern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Im Jahr 2022 endete diese \u201eSubvention\u201c, was dazu f\u00fchrte, dass der Preis des DE10-Nano-Boards von rund 130 \u20ac auf bis zu 300 \u20ac anstieg. Dies hat auch die Gesamtkosten f\u00fcr ein MiSTer-Setup deutlich erh\u00f6ht. Zum Gl\u00fcck gibt es mittlerweile eine g\u00fcnstigere Alternative: den <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/retroremake.co\/pages\/store\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/retroremake.co\/pages\/store\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MiSTer Pi<\/a><\/strong>, der ein kompatibles Board nutzt und die Produktionskosten senkt. Sein MiSTer-Paket kostet etwa 350 \u20ac und wird in einem \u00e4u\u00dferst kompakten und optisch ansprechenden Geh\u00e4use geliefert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Das Geh\u00e4use mit transparenter Oberseite enth\u00e4lt:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ein I\/O-Board mit <strong>R-2R DAC<\/strong> (VGA-Ausgang),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Einen Audio-DAC mit 112dB Signal-Rausch-Verh\u00e4ltnis (analog und optisch),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Einen <strong>DB-9 Joystick-Anschluss<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Beleuchtete Pushbuttons zur Bedienung.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Zus\u00e4tzlich wird ein passendes Netzteil mitgeliefert. Damit lassen sich zahlreiche Optionen einstellen und alle notwendigen Daten direkt auf die SD-Karte laden. Besonders praktisch: Die SD-Karte l\u00e4sst sich bequem per FTP-Programm (z.\u202fB. <strong>FileZilla<\/strong>) bef\u00fcllen und bearbeiten. Das erspart das st\u00e4ndige Entnehmen der Karte, um sie im Kartenleser am PC zu bearbeiten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Im FTP-Programm einfach die IP-Adresse des MiSTer eingeben, als <strong>Benutzer \u201eroot\u201c<\/strong> und als <strong>Kennwort \u201e1\u201c<\/strong> verwenden. Wichtig: Als Zielverzeichnis <strong><code>\/media\/fat\/<\/code><\/strong> angeben \u2013 das ist der zentrale Ordner auf der SD-Karte, in dem sich alles Wichtige befindet. Damit lassen sich neue Spiele, BIOS-Dateien oder ganze Ordnerstrukturen schnell \u00fcbertragen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MiSTer und NAS<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Falls mehrere MiSTer-Ger\u00e4te im Haushalt vorhanden sind, bietet sich ein <strong>zentraler Datenspeicher auf einem NAS<\/strong> an. So muss man nicht zwei SD-Karten mit identischen Inhalten pflegen. Die Spiele und sonstigen Inhalte werden direkt vom NAS geladen. Er funktionierte nur noch, wenn zus\u00e4tzlich ein Ethernet-Kabel verbunden war \u2013 ein seltsames Verhalten. Auch l\u00e4ngere Ladezeiten bei gr\u00f6\u00dferen Spielen sprechen gegen diese L\u00f6sung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Egal, was ich versucht habe \u2013 feste IP-Adressen, alternative Einstellungen, Anpassungen am Netzwerk \u2013 <strong>keine Verbesserung<\/strong>. Den Ordner <strong>\u201eGames\u201c<\/strong> verschieben, und MiSTer erkennt diesen auch dort korrekt \u2013 ohne Umwege \u00fcber das Netzwerk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Controller<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Ich verwende derzeit den <strong>M30 von 8BitDo<\/strong> mit Kabel \u2013 ein toller Controller mit klassischem Layout. In den MiSTer-Einstellungen l\u00e4sst er sich konfigurieren und auch zur Navigation im Men\u00fc verwenden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tipp:<\/strong> Beim ersten Start eines neuen Cores gleich die wichtigsten Einstellungen vornehmen \u2013 z.\u202fB. die Controllerbelegung \u2013 und direkt speichern. Trotz steigender Kosten und etwas aufwendigerer Einrichtung bleibt der MiSTer ein unverzichtbares Werkzeug f\u00fcr Retro-Enthusiasten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mit Ger\u00e4ten wie dem MiSTer Pi oder den individuellen L\u00f6sungen von Entwicklern wie Antonio Villena gibt es mittlerweile auch g\u00fcnstigere oder kompaktere Alternativen.
