{"id":29852,"date":"2024-01-19T20:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-19T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jungsi.de\/?p=29852"},"modified":"2026-04-03T14:43:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T12:43:06","slug":"thomson-to8-thomson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jungsi.de\/en\/thomson-to8-thomson\/","title":{"rendered":"Thomson TO8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nachdem ich den Thomson TO7-70 ersteigert hatte, bin ich kurz danach bei dem gleichen Verk\u00e4ufer \u00fcber einen Thomson TO8 gestolpert und war bei der Auktion erfolgreich. Daher hier gleich der n\u00e4chste Rechner aus Frankreich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der Thomson TO8 war der vierte Computer der \u201eTO\u201c-Reihe (T\u00e9l\u00e9 Ordinateur) des franz\u00f6sischen Unternehmens. Vorher wurde im Auftrag der Regierung der TO7 (1982) und TO7\/70 (1984) mit AZERTY-Tastatur f\u00fcr Schulen hergestellt.<br>Als das staatliche Programm abgeschlossen war, wurden die Rechner in Gesch\u00e4ften zum Verkauf angeboten \u2013 f\u00fcr den Export mit QUERTY-Tastatur. 1985 wurde der Desktop-Rechner TO9 der f\u00fcr den Gesch\u00e4ftsmarkt bestimmt war, eingef\u00fchrt. Zwischen 1985 und 1987 gab es dann eine zweite Generation der TO Serie: den TO8 (der Rechner in diesem Artikel), den TO9+ (Desktop) und den TO8D (mit Diskettenlaufwerk).<br><br>Der TO8 mit 256K RAM (erweiterbar auf 512K) und einem ROM mit 80K behielt die Kompatibilit\u00e4t mit den Vorg\u00e4ngermodellen der Serie, dem TO7 und dem TO7\/70 bei (im ROM befindet sich das Microsoft BASIC f\u00fcr die Kompatibilit\u00e4t sowie das BASIC 512). Wie der TO9 kann er auch ein externes Diskettenlaufwerk verwenden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Der TO8 enth\u00e4lt einen Motorola 6809E-Prozessor, 256 KB RAM und 80 KB ROM in drei ICs: zweimal 32K mit MS-BASIC 1.0 und BASIC 512 sowie einmal 16K mit dem Betriebssystem. Mit an Bord ist ein Thomson EF6804P2P mit 8-Bit-Prozessor, 1K ROM, 64 Byte ROM und 32 Byte RAM und einen 6846L EF2P \u2013 ein TO7- TO7\/70 System-ROM IC. Was die Grafik betrifft, gibt es zwei Textmodi, acht Grafikmodi mit maximal 16 Farben aus eine Palette von 4096. F\u00fcr den Sound ist ein Soundsynthesizer zust\u00e4ndig. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der Cartridgeanschluss befand sich im oberen Geh\u00e4useteil. Die Eintr\u00e4ge variieren mit den Ger\u00e4ten, die anschlossen sind. Wie auch beim Thomson TO7-70 k\u00f6nnen hier die Eingaben mit dem Lightpen erfolgen. Auch in dem Fall war das Netzteil nicht mehr in Ordnung. Der Ein-\/Ausschalter auf der R\u00fcckseite macht zwar Kontakt, blieb aber nicht in seiner Stellung, sodass der Rechner immer wieder ausging. Anscheinend gab es das Problem schon l\u00e4nger da in des Netzkabel ein zweiter Schalter integriert ist, der sicher nicht Original ist.<br>Ich entschied mich das Netzteil auszubauen und das richtig zu l\u00f6sen, was sich als richtig herausstellte. Auf der Unterseite der Platine l\u00f6sten sich bereits die ersten L\u00f6tpunkte ab. Somit wurde der Schalter ausgetauscht, die fehlerhaften L\u00f6tstellen nach gel\u00f6tet und der Netzfilter, der mit Sicherheit auch bald explodieren w\u00fcrde, ausgetauscht. Das Netzteil ist per Kabel mit Stecker an der Hauptplatine angeschlossen. Dort m\u00fcssen an PIN 1 12 Volt und an Pin 7 5 Volt anliegen.
