Ich bis vor Kurzem auch nicht, bis ich auf eBay \u00fcber diese seltene Konsole stolperte. Da Cartridges mit dabei waren, muss es ein Ger\u00e4t aus der zumindest zweiten Konsolengeneration sein \u2013 einer \u00c4ra, die von etwa 1976 bis 1992 reichte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Poppy war keine neue Erfindung, sondern beruhte auf einer Lizenz zur Herstellung eines vorhandenen Designs, das eng mit der Arcadia 2001 verwandt ist. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass die Technik in Hongkong von der Firma Universal Appliances Limited (UAL) zwischen 1981 und 1982 entwickelt wurde, ist sehr gro\u00df. Interessanterweise lie\u00df UAL am 31.03.1982 den Namen Home Arcade in den USA sch\u00fctzen, benutzte ihn aber selbst nicht. M\u00f6glicherweise wurde der Name f\u00fcr potenzielle Partner reserviert, was auf eine strategische Vermarktungsentscheidung hindeutet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Das Poppy MPT-03 wurde von der deutschen Firma Transonic Intermarket aus Hamburg vertrieben und in Hongkong gebaut. Transonic war in den 70er Jahren unter anderem f\u00fcr ihre Hi-Fi-Lautsprecher der \u201eLife\u201c-Serie bekannt. Ebenso war sie auch f\u00fcr den Vertrieb der Sanwa-Konsolen in Deutschland zust\u00e4ndig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diese Konsole d\u00fcrfte im Jahr 1982 auf den deutschen Markt gekommen sein und das Ende war wahrscheinlich sp\u00e4testens 1983\/1984.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In den USA war der Lizenznehmer die Firma Emerson, die das Arcadia 2001 im Jahr 1982 auf den Markt brachte. Zum Beispiel sind die MPT-03 Cartridges physisch nicht kompatibel mit den Emerson-Cartridges. Dabei sind vier Sprites gleichzeitig m\u00f6glich. Das Atari VCS wird, was die Grafik betrifft, \u00fcbertroffen, aber mit dem zwei Jahre alten Intellivision befindet sich das Poppy nur auf Augenh\u00f6he. Dem Signetics 2650 Prozessor steht 1 KByte RAM und dem Grafikchip Signetics 2637 UVI stehen 512 Byte Bildschirmspeicher zur Verf\u00fcgung. Als Sound wird ein Kanal zusammen mit einem Rauschgenerator geboten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es wird auch einiges von den Mattel- und Coleco-Konsolen kopiert, wie das Tasten-Keypad, das mit Tastaturschablonen versehen werden kann. Das Poppy ist etwas klobiger und in grau gehalten mit schwarzen Controllern und orangen Kn\u00f6pfen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Cartridges mit ihren gelben Aufklebern werden in entsprechenden Verpackungen mit Handbuch und den Overlays f\u00fcr die Controller ausgeliefert. Anscheinend gibt es zwei Gr\u00f6\u00dfen der Cartridges, wobei die zweite Variante so gro\u00df ist wie VHS-Videokassetten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Konsolen funktionieren mit jedem 12-Volt-Netzteil und damit sogar mit einer Autobatterie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Falls jemand noch wei\u00df, was diese Konsole und die dazugeh\u00f6rigen Spiele urspr\u00fcnglich gekostet haben, w\u00fcrde ich mich \u00fcber diese Information freuen.
