Die PlayStation 3 hatte einen holprigen Start: Der hohe Verkaufspreis bei Einf\u00fchrung 2006, die komplexe Cell-Architektur, die Entwickler vor gro\u00dfe Herausforderungen stellte, und die starke Konkurrenz durch Xbox 360 und Wii lie\u00dfen Sony zun\u00e4chst deutlich ins Hintertreffen geraten. Doch Sony bewies langen Atem. Der integrierte Blu-ray-Player erwies sich als entscheidender Vorteil im Format-Krieg gegen HD-DVD und machte die PS3 gleichzeitig zum g\u00fcnstigsten Blu-ray-Abspielger\u00e4t auf dem Markt. Mit der Zeit reifte die Plattform zu einer der am st\u00e4rksten kuratierten Konsolen ihrer Generation heran: Exklusivtitel wie Uncharted, The Last of Us, LittleBigPlanet und Heavy Rain sorgten f\u00fcr Aufsehen weit \u00fcber die Spielergemeinschaft hinaus. Auch die Einf\u00fchrung des PlayStation Network und des kostenlosen PlayStation Plus-Vorg\u00e4ngers legte den Grundstein f\u00fcr Sonys heutige Online-Strategie.
