Er wurde vom VEB Mikroelektronik &#8222;Wilhelm Pieck&#8220; M\u00fchlhausen produziert, einem volkseigenen Betrieb. Der KC 85\/3 war Teil der &#8222;Kleincomputer&#8220;-Serie und stellte eine Weiterentwicklung der fr\u00fcheren Modelle KC 85\/1 und KC 85\/2 dar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der Computer war vor allem f\u00fcr Bildungszwecke und den Einsatz in Schulen konzipiert, fand aber auch in Haushalten Verwendung. Technisch basierte er auf einem Z80-Prozessor und hatte 64 KB Arbeitsspeicher. Trotz der begrenzten Verf\u00fcgbarkeit von moderner Technologie in der DDR war der KC 85\/3 relativ leistungsf\u00e4hig und verf\u00fcgte \u00fcber eine erweiterbare Architektur, die es Nutzern erm\u00f6glichte, verschiedene Module anzuschlie\u00dfen. Jahrestag der DDR pr\u00e4sentierte der <strong>VEB Mikroelektronik &#8222;Wilhelm Pieck&#8220; M\u00fchlhausen<\/strong> den <strong>KC Compact<\/strong>. Im Gegensatz zu Eigenentwicklungen wie dem <strong>HC900<\/strong> oder den Modellen <strong>KC85\/2, KC85\/3 und KC85\/4<\/strong> handelte es sich beim KC Compact um einen Klon eines westlichen Computers, genauer gesagt des <strong>Amstrad CPC 464<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der KC Compact war mit dem schnellsten Z80-Nachbau der DDR, dem <strong>UA880D mit 4 MHz<\/strong>, ausgestattet.
